Writerly resolutions: May status

My big revelation this month was that wasting time playing games online isn’t the cause of my not writing so much as a symptom of the cause which is that I’ve been kind of in a depressed state for most of this year.

That said, I did manage to at least complete the revisions that constitute a new draft of We, the Rescued. I’ve decided what’s next for that is to take the chapters that can stand alone as stories, re-read and revise as necessary those chapters and send them out, but that’s at the bottom of the new priority list. I got a little bit of work on draft two of a new story done, but not much else.

My June priority list:

  1. Finish new story and get it ready for workshop
  2. 6 new poems
  3. Get as much of the non-fiction project written as possible
  4. Get as much of the new novel written as possible
  5. Get as much of the entertainment written as possible
  6. Review/revise and submit three We, the Rescued chapters as stories

I’m cautiously optimistic that the depression may be lifting, but we will see.
