My Penguin Dictionary of the Saints lists nobody for June 10th, nor does the General Roman Calendar as described on Wikipedia, but among the saints listed under this date on Wikipedia there was Saint Olivia and I used an icon of her as the basis of today’s picture.
Most of the details on her life are sketchy at best and it’s likely that she’s a conflation of perhaps two different people of the same name alongside pure legend and sites named less for her than for olive trees, but even if the official view of the church is to look at her a bit askance, she does have devotion, primarily in Palermo and Sicily, both of which claim her as their own.
I feel like I’m continuing to get better at the pictures in crayon although my work on eyes could use some improvement.
