Writerly resolutions: September status

It’s been another mediocre month for writing progress. My second full request on We, the Rescued got another form rejection, which tells me that more work on the novel itself is warranted. I’ve gone ahead and printed the current draft so I can re-read and do another editorial round on it to bring it closer to perfection.

Progress chart showing the development of the word count on the novel. low slope at the beginning of the month with a sharp increase until I finished chapter 7, then good stead progress on the rewrite, a quick revision round and then a good start on chapter 8 before things peter off around the 24thThe new novel has seen at least some progress and I’ve finished chapter seven and gotten a start on chapter eight. Chapter six gets workshopped tonight and I’ll be workshopping chapter seven later. I’ve started work on something else that I’m not willing to discuss in public yet other than to acknowledge its existence, but between that, the editorial work on We, the Rescued, I expect progress on the new novel to be slow for a while.

Not much progress on the short story, although the last story I workshopped went into submission, garnering a couple form rejections along the way. But I did have the previous new story I sent out get accepted for publication later this year.

Three poems have seen publication in September and more will be coming out in October along with at least one story.

Speaking of poems, I’ve been busy writing new poems to replenish my diminishing supply of poems for my next submission round. I think at least some of these are pretty good.
