Writerly resolutions: April status

Graph showing progress on the novel. Flat until April 13th when I finally finished post-workshop revisions on chapter 3. Then it shows a fairly quick ascent as I wrote a first draft of a new chapter going between the existing first and second chapter, then a slower ascent as I rewrote it, finishing that draft today. Finally beginning to get back into a groove on the writing. After much delay, I finished my post-workshop revisions on chapter three and then managed to get a first draft and rewrite of a new chapter (which will become chapter two coming before the existing chapter two). I also think I solved a characterization problem with my protagonist.

Less dramatic progress with the short story work, but there’s at least some action happening there as well as with pre-submission revisions on poems.

I put out a buttload of query letters this month which have largely garnered form rejections, including a rejection on the full request I received earlier this year.

Story/poem rejections have slowed to a crawl, but that’s at least in part because there are so few pending submissions at this point.
