St Eugene is an interesting figure in that he was a pope elected while the previous pope still lived (his predecessor having been deposed by the emperor over one of those abstruse matters of doctrine—does Christ have one will or two?—that most contemporary Christians likely never think about and if they do, are as likely to pick the heterodox choice), I think the first such case, but I don’t really want to go through six centuries of popes to see.
My portrait is another crayon illustration, this time taking advantage of a profile picture of Eugene I found online since noses are much easier to draw in profile (not to mention only having to deal with one eye rather than two).
