Catholic nerd pilgrimage: Saint Wenceslaus

St Wenceslaus is the good king of the Christmas carol which isn’t exactly about Christmas, but rather the 26th of December, but no mind. As the patron of Bohemia, that was presumably the reason for the name of the parish which I would guess was in what was a neighborhood with a significant Czech population at its founding.

This was one of only two times that I was noted as a newcomer while attending Mass (the other was St James where, as I was leaving, someone asked me if I was aware of the post-Mass coffee and asked if I wanted to join). Here, the priest asked if it was my first time at St Wenceslaus as I was leaving, but seemed a bit disappointed to learn that I was just there for the day.
