Catholic nerd pilgrimage: Saint Paul

Today being the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, I had a variety of options for where to go, but I opted for Saint Paul’s church in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago.

The front of St Paul’s church in Pilsen. It’s a gothic-style church, built of brick. There are a few motorcycles parked on the sidewalk in front of the church, a cart with biligual missals and an altar set up on the steps.

I had my kids with me, so we made a quick run for snacks to the nearest 7-Eleven and returned in time for the Mass which included a blessing of the motorcyclists of the parish and their bikes. a few of the motorcycles that were parked in front of the church along with a couple bicycles

Overall, it was a pleasant Mass, despite the oppressive heat that’s been part of the Chicago experience for the last week or two and it felt like a strong community.
