Catholic nerd pilgrimage: Saint Padre Pio

I first heard of Padre Pio through Graham Greene’s memoir where he talked about being offered the chance to meet the friar but opted not to because he didn’t want his life changed by meeting a saint.

Padre Pio Parish was formed through the merger of two northside parishes, St Hilary and Transfiguration of Our Lord, with the latter ultimately closing and subsequently undergoing demolition so now there’s a church with a parish identity that is distinct from the church identity.

The view of the sanctuary from the back of the church. There is some gorgeous wooden archwork in the vault of the church. The exterior of the church, a rather blandbrick and granite façade with a belltower to the left of the church connected by a passageway. The beauty of the interior is not evident from the exterior of the church.
